Simply Eclectic Life Has Moved

25 Days. That’s how long it’s been since anything new has landed on this blog. But who’s counting??

Okay, me.

I’ve been counting…and it’s been weighing on me for weeks.

There simply hasn’t been enough time in the day/week/month to get done all that needs doing and part of my hiatus is due to the build I’ve been doing of a new webpage. What should have been a relatively simple process turned into a time drain at several junctures due to technological difficulties…but it’s finally done (or, at least the first pass at it) and this is where you will find all things new by me going forward.

If you’re scratching your head in wonder about why the change, here’s the scoop: I’ve been dipping a toe in the world of freelance writing. I’ve already found some successes along the way, which is totally exciting, and it all came with the need for some re-branding.

Sooooo….Simply Eclectic Life is now Simply Writeous and aside from that, nothing is changing! All the reasons you had for following me here will exist there AND all the content from this webpage has been moved over.

It will take only a quick minute to head on over to Simply Writeous (<— click the link) and enter your email address to subscribe. Or if you follow me on your WP Reader, click the button to manage your followed sites, type in Simply Writeous and add me there.

Heck, if you follow me by email and need some help, I’ll lend a hand in moving you over. Leave me a message in the comments section with your email address and I’ll get ya added!

Look forward to seeing you all over there. I’ve left a message that contains other details of what I’ve been up to over the last month of hiatus, too.

PS- This site will be coming down in October 2017

Oh, Hello There

Good Morning, Dear Friends.

I apologize for having gone MIA this last week. It became quite clear to me that not having the weekend to get my life together means the week to follow…well…let’s just say life = not together.

Scrambling to throw meals together on the fly, trying to catch up on chores that went undone over the weekend, looking at the lawn that was 2 weeks past needing mowed, all the while working my regular job that verges on insanity…you get the picture. How my obsessive, compulsive personality survived is still a mystery!

Time spent in Nebraska made the life = not together scenario well worth it as I shared time with my family. Check out this picture I snapped of this gorgeous flowering bush at my grandmother’s house!! It was so full of blooms that the branches drooped under the weight. Simply stunning!

I hope you enjoyed Mother’s Day, in whatever capacity you celebrated and that this past weekend left you rejuvenated and ready to tackle this week.

I’ll be back later with some fun blog posts, but wanted to drop in this morning to say hello and offer some encouragement that no matter what is on your plate this week: You Got This!!

Fresh Start

It’s the songs of birds in the large tree outside that stir me awake in this early hour and beckon me out of bed. The sun just beginning its ascent brings promise of a fresh start; a chance to begin again. It will later direct our paths as it gives light to the darkness and will thaw the thin layer of frost blanketing the earth.

As the coffee begins to brew, I peer through the kitchen widow. The greenhouse sparkles with a million crystals of ice shimmering in the slowly rising sun. Tucked inside all my delicate plants are happy and content; saved from the damaging frost by the shelter literally built by love.

It is the beginning of a new day.

Seize the opportunity to drink in all that is wonderful and good, and against all that may stand in your way, make this an incredible week.

A Slow Start To 2016

Hi there! I just wanted to stop by and say  a quick hello. It’s been a couple chaotic months in my world, with lots of time away from home. Hence the reason for my blogging absence. I’m hopeful things are slowing down and I can start getting back into a routine.

In the meantime – here’s a frosty picture from a trip to Wyoming…

I’m totally ready for Spring!

Hope your 2016 is off to a fabulous start – and I’ll be back soon.

Three Years Ago…

Three years ago today, I left my life in Nebraska to start something new in Colorado. I packed up my SUV with my essentials and drove away from Therapy House. The house that I poured blood, sweat and tears into, quite literally.  The house that offered me a first night of full rest, after many restless nights over the course of many months, the very first night I tucked in to bed there. The house that was all mine – that I took pride in – that was a testiment of how ‘ok’ everything was despite all the messiness in life.

I miss that little house (with the gigantic garage)…

And the unique warmth that comes only from a wood burning stove…

Dining Area After

And relaxing in the gigantic whirlpool bathtub…

And sitting on the deck with a glass bottle(s) of wine, laughing with friends…

And…well…I could go on, and on, and on…

I look back on that chapter of my life with so much fondness – and then on where I am currently with so much appreciation – and finally ahead with hopeful anticipation of what’s to come.

What a journey it has been. The blessings = countless!

Happy Anniversary to “The New Life” I began in Colorado, 3 years ago today!

Shannon Quintana

Shannon Quintana is a contemporary Christian musician, and she is my new, most favorite, artist. I had the pleasure of experiencing her music for the first time, live, as she led worship at a women’s retreat I attended several weeks ago. She is incredible. And adorable. And her music…it’s real and gorgeous and…I could go on and on…

I returned home from this retreat craving more and immediately downloaded her album “We Come”. You can sample this, as well as her other album “Start Where You Are”, on her website And while you’re there, check our her blog.

Oh, and to show you how adorable she is, I hijacked these photos from her website:

It’s Fall. Officially. I’m somewhat in denial. Fall means that summer is over – and that winter is hot on it’s heels. Winter – Boo!!

I knew it was coming what with the cooler evenings, the sun setting earlier in the day, waking up in the morning at my usual time and thinking for sure <based on how dark it still is outside> that I can snooze for another 2 hours…until the harsh reality of the alarm clock alerts me otherwise.

I also knew it was coming when pumpkin started making it’s appearance in EVERYTHING! Seriously, everything! It drives me bonkers, personally, but people dig it…I know.

And, just when I think I dislike this time of year a gorgeous sunflower makes an appearance in my garden…

followed by this incredible sunset…

and I’m forced to admit that Fall, while not my favorite, really does have a lot going for it.

What’s your favorite season? And, do you get all jazzed about pumpkin everything this time of year?

Wishing you all a BRILLIANT week.

Toying With The Idea….

It’s been nearly two years since Simply Eclectic Life saw a new post.

I wish I had some amazing story to account for my 2 year hiatus. That I could tell you I went off the grid and got back to basics. Or that I was volunteering my time in a third world country and had no access to internet. Or that I was backpacking through Europe and forgot my iPad charger in the States (yes, backpacking, for two years, and couldn’t locate a charger anywhere).

There isn’t an amazing story to account for my time away. Truth told, life got busy and I felt I had to choose. There wasn’t enough energy and brain power to accomplish it all and something had to give.

But then…the most amazing thing happened…Facebook started showing me the “this day in history” stuff from my posts and it alerted me to the fact that this blog, sitting lonely and neglected, is still here. Just waiting to be revived. And it couldn’t have come at a better time because just recently I had a very serious discussion with myself — about needing to find balance. Too much of my time, energy and brain power is being sucked away by the things I have to do. It’s time to re-channel some of that time, energy and brain power to things I WANT to do.

So…I’m toying with the idea. The idea of breathing new life back into this blog. To engage in, and share with you, some of the simple things that bring me the most joy in life.

Also, this little cutie made an appearance in my garden this weekend and I just couldn’t resist sharing:

My blog account tells me that I’ve still got some followers out there…are you still out there? If so, drop me a line – it’s been nearly two years, I’d love to hear from you!

What I Have Been Up To….

Hello! Hello!

It’s been longer than forever since I paid my blog any attention. I have been busy getting ready for a wedding, getting married, and trying to get my footing following all the madness. A DIY wedding sure takes it out of a person! It may be months before I am fully recovered!

So…I just wanted to drop in to say “Hi” and let you know that I have so much to share with you in the coming weeks from my day of bliss….starting next week.

Until then, I hope you enjoy the rest of your week and your weekend & I’ll begin spilling the details on Monday.

We Have New Friends

This is our new friend;
He doesn’t have a name.

I am shocked to discover;
This city buck is quite tame.

He wasn’t bothered by me;
In fact he took a little rest.

He napped in the sunshine
Until arrived our other guest

They had a little snack,
Then went along their way

Seeing them was such a surprise
It really made my day.

Happy Tuesday, Everyone!
