When does the countdown for the wedding officially begin? If it starts today, we are 17 days away! Holy Cow! I cannot believe how the time as flown; it will be here before I even know it.
That isn’t to say that the celebrations haven’t already begun. I have amazing friends and family who have thrown me some of the most wonderful bridal showers over the past month and a half. There has been so much in the good food, good friends, amazing family, thoughtful gifts and fun it is truly a testament to how many incredible people I have in my life. And, for all that, I couldn’t be more thankful.
I’m going to take the next few days blogging about the parties, beginning with the bridal shower thrown by J’s aunt.
This was a morning affair, complete with my favorite meal of the day <breakfast>, and a ‘for special breakfast occasions only’ beverage – Mimosas. J’s aunt really out-did herself with 3 different egg casseroles, French toast, AND donuts. The food was so delicious; I’m still dreaming about the egg casseroles and Mimosas!
Then, we opened gifts. Many of the guests were unable to come but sent gifts and beautiful messages along in their absence. I was only a tad-bit spoiled…
Finally, we played a ‘sort of’ game. J’s aunt opted to skip any games in the traditional sense and came up with a story instead. As she told the story, I opened gifts from a bag, according to how they were numbered. I posted about this in an earlier post; you can read about it here.
I wish someone had gotten the exact story down but it went something like this:
“How A Marriage Progresses”
Here is something you may need on your wedding night:
And early in the marriage you might need these for relaxing together:
And this for giving each other massages:
But before long, children make their way into your life, and these might come in handy:
And when those don’t work, you might try this:
And after a while, you might feel the need for this:
Over time, you get extremely comfortable with each other, but still understand the importance for this:
Before you know it, it’s less about being fancy, and more about being comfy, and you resort to wearing these:
But in the end, and through it all, there’s always….
…hugs and kisses.
This was a super cute way to mix up the ‘games’ that come along with bridal showers. It was a very nice morning; a morning spent making memories with these gals:
And a very special thank you to the host of the event, for the time and effort spent putting it all together:
Stay tuned to hear all about the Mexican Fiesta themed party hosted by my aunt’s in tomorrow’s post. They went all out in ways I would have never expected and it was a BLAST!
