Colorado Mountains – Fall 2008

My sincerest apologies, blog friends, for my long absence without one word. Here’s the deal: last weekend I was out of town (Thur-Mon) and the busy-ness of the weekend kept me away. Then late Monday night I was hit with the stomach flu that I’ve been battling nearly all week.

Seems early for the flu, but it also seems early to burn a fire in my wood burning stove (which I did last evening), and for the light dusting of snow on the ground I woke up to this morning (which doesn’t please me a bit) – it’s actually still snowing now, if you cared to know.

At any rate, I wanted to pass along a few things to you on this chilly morning:
1) Workout Update: last week I nearly met my goal (the goal is 4 good, intense, sweaty workouts per week) with 3 workouts. Had I not opted out of the workout for a round of golf with my dad on a particularly beautiful Wednesday, the goal would have been met. That said, we are short on time as far as the golfing season is concerned, and I’m getting ready to move out of state which means I have to soak up every bit of family time I can with my parents…because I can’t deny how hard it’s gonna be to leave them AND how much I appreciate and enjoy having them around. This week, on the other hand, was a complete wash. I feel like the stomach flu is a legit reason, rather than a lame excuse, though so I’m giving myself a freebie on this one.
2) As far as the workout updates go…I got a tiny bit of feedback from readers and have decided to go ahead with something like  “Friday Fitness & Health” update posts, however, the weeks (in my head) run Monday-Sunday. So, I’m going to try to squeeze that update post into a Monday, when I can give a true update of the entire week (rather than 5 days).
3)I’ve mentioned that I’m getting ready to move. This means I have 2 weeks until I’ve gotta have my behind in Colorado, followed by the start of a new job. I am going to do my darndest to keep ya all in the loop with at least a couple posts a week, but please forgive me if I go off the grid again…it’s gonna be a whirlwind for the next month or so and there is the possibility that I’ll disappear from my blog from time to time.

This weekend (actually, in about 2 1/2 hrs) I am heading to Estes Park, CO for my cousin’s wedding. I was pretty pumped about a drive through the mountains, the trees in full fall color fashion, but now I’m second guessing that excitement. It’s gonna be cold up there, chances of snow, yadda yadda yadda, and I prefer 70’s and sunny (for the low). At any rate, it will be good to catch up with family I haven’t seen in years and I’ll pack an extra hoodie.

What are your super fabulous weekend plans?
