I have been away from my blog. I’ve been neglecting my readers. Naughty! Naughty!
My time away has shown me that I missed this. I think it’s safe to say that I’ll continue on with the blog, long after the 30 Day Challenge ends. And, I must apologize, lovely readers, for my absence. You know when your weekend plans change in an instant? That happened to me. I hate when that happens to me. I’m too much of a control freak. I like a well lined out plan. I don’t fly by the seat of my pants well. I get cranky.
So my holiday weekend turned in to way more driving than I had anticipated (sudden plan change mentioned above). Then, Tuesday I made my annual journey across the state of Nebraska for an appt and to hang with my favorite aunt. Consider this, I drove about 400 miles, in one direction, and never left the state!
Fast forward to today, and here I am, trying to make up for my absence. How was everyone’s Holiday Weekend? Did the weather cooperate for all of your fun plans?
Prior to my change in plans, I hurried to get this together for a weekend of food, cocktails, and relaxation:
Hosed off the furniture, hauled the cushions out of the garage, planted a few pots with flowers. You might notice how badly the deck needs refinished; I mentioned this on a previous post with my summer “to do” list. In an effort to distract from the sun damaged deck I added some color with these:
Actually, these flowers would have made their way to the deck regardless of the need to get it re-stained. Aren’t these pots awesome, though? I think I picked them up at Lowe’s for under $10 each. They’re bamboo. I’m hoping they hold up better against the raging summer storms we get on the plains, complete with gigantic hail! Most of the pots from last year made their way to the dumpster once summer was over. They were chipped, cracked, and in really poor shape. Darn hail!
While I didn’t enjoy a weekend on the deck, I did enjoy the afternoon I took these pictures there. Notice the glass of sun tea? Yum! One of my favorite summer treats. Zero calories, full of antioxidents, and super delicious. Brewed right on my deck!
So…lets’ hear it, how was your Memorial weekend? What did you do that was special, eventuful, and fun??
